YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stains (£26) blew up the make up world two years ago and for good reason.
Not exactly lipstick, not exactly gloss, and so much more than a simple lip stain, Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres is a whole new way to make up lips. Long-lasting color that remains airy-light and ultra elegant. Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres lets your lips shine without overdoing it. No sparkles, no gold highlights. Just pure color on your lips.
It was the first long wearing highly pigmented lip gloss which ends up leaving behind a gorgeous matte stain as the gloss wears off. It comes in an amazing array of different shades and still is the best of it’s kind to this day.

Beige Aquarelle – 19 – is a nude based baby pink tone. It’s a great everyday colour and perfect to pair with a dramatic eye for a night on the town. The best way to wear the product is to apply numerous thin layers to the lips to build up the colour, although it can be worn sheerly for a hint of colour. The doe foot applicator is shaped like an arrow which is strangely perfect for shaping the lips with no need for a liner.

The Glossy Stain has great longevity and doesn’t bleed over the lipline. When first applied I find the product to be quite sticky although not uncomfortably so and after around half an hour this sticky sensation disappears. When the stickiness is gone the product is completely transfer resistant, you can eat, drink, even smooch away without the worry of the product getting onto anything.
The absolute best thing about this product is that you do not need to reapply. Unless you want the initial high shine back there is absolutely no need. There has been many a night out where I haven’t taken out the product to touch up as I’ve known I wouldn’t have to.
The only downside would be that lip product is quite fragrant and not the most pleasant of smells in my opinion, I also wouldn’t suggest eating the product as the taste isn’t delicious at all.

Overall I would highly recommend this product as there is nothing else like it on the market. I’ve tried other products such as the Revlon Moisture Stain, but nothing comes close to the technology YSL have created in this product. Yes the price tag isn’t easy on the wallet, you couldn’t go buying 5 at a time, but my goodness it is completely worth every penny! The shine lasts hours upon hours, the product is transfer proof once adhered to the lip (can take upto half an hour dependant upon how many layers have been applied) and when the gloss does eventually wear off the colour remains in a stain on the lips. What more could a lip product lover ask for? Pass me the whole range!
