Descanso Satin Lip Pencil from Nars is a warm peachy-rose toned colour with absolutely no shimmer. It is a perfect throw on lip pencil, one of those that you don’t even need a mirror for, which is my favourite thing about the Nars Satin Lip Pencils (£20). Not only are they creamy in texture and highly pigmented, they are just so easy to wear. This shade in particular goes with absolutely any look, day or night. The satin finishing is extremely flattering and gives great moisture throughout the day whilst staying on the lips for a considerably long time. I’d say safely around 3/4 hours dependent upon eating or drinking.

The lip pencil is perfect to travel with, and when freshly sharpened is extremely easy to shape the lips with. The width of the pencil is considerably thinner than other pencil/crayons of this type, such as the Revlon crayons, which adds to the ease of this product. The packaging is classic Nars, matte black, and the best thing is that the lip pencil shade is on the base, meaning it’s easy to find the colour you want in your collection if you have a few different colours and finishes. Satin ones have the base colour and a line above, whereas the Matte ones have just the base colour. I think this is a brilliant idea.

The only complaint I would have is that the lid of the product pops off. When you push it onto the product it pushes back at you and isn’t at all handbag safe. I’ve lost the whole nib of one of my other Nars lip pencils in my car due to this, so it isn’t just that I have a dodgy one, it’s the same with all of them. It would be better in my opinion if the lids were plastic and not made of the same material you would find on a Nars compact blush or lipstick. I understand they have a ‘look’ which they wish to retain but when your cleaning up broken lip pencil from the bottom of your handbag you couldn’t care less if all your Nars products coordinate. And if I were to be really picky, it would be great if the pencil was retractable so that you didn’t waste so much product by sharpening.

These Nars Lip Pencils, not just in Satin but also in Matte, are most definitely one of my top 5 lip products. They are creamy, comfortable to wear on the lips, highly pigmented, long lasting and very easy to apply. I’m sure it won’t be long before I’m purchasing another.
