Are you a rebel? MAC Rebel Lipstick – Swatches & Review

I live for purple lipstick. Dark purple, berry purples and lilac toned purples I just feel it’s a great way to stand out without wearing a completely crazy colour.

MAC Rebel is a satin finish berry toned purple lipstick (£15.50 maccosmetics.co.uk). MAC themselves describe it as a midtonal cream plum. Many of the other purple tones I own are matte in texture, however although I do prefer a matte look this is up there as my favourite berry lip. My favourite way to wear Rebel is applied directly from the bullet over a lined lip. I suggest using a liner as it bleeds over time, I personally use Rimmels 1000 Kisses Lasting Finish lip liner in Wine (£2.99 from Boots) – review on this lip liner here. Another great way to wear it is blotted over the lips to create a berry stain, which you can leave matte or alternatively apply a gloss over the top.

The pigment in this lipstick is great, but if your lips are dry it will cling leaving it very patchy, which is never a good look, so ensure your lips are fully exfoliated and moisturised. It has the classic MAC sweet vanilla scent, my absolute favourite, they should make a perfume of that smell it would be a bestseller. Who’s with me?! The staying power is great considering it is a satin finish, probably around 4 hours. When it does wear off it does so evenly leaving a gorgeous berry stain behind which lasts until you go to remove your make up.

If you love purple lipsticks you need this one in your collection, it is a cult classic and for good reason!
