OCC Lip Tar in Hush – Swatches and Review

First and foremost I would like to say big shout out to OCC for being a vegan and cruelty-free company! WOO! Secondly, since I have purchased this lip tar they have since released more convenient packaging for their product so don’t be fooled by my tube.

Hush. A very nude pink peach. I will say first right off the bat, this is better suited to fairer skin tones. Nevertheless it is a gorgeous shade that I personally enjoy to wear – however I do enjoy pale pink based nudes – so shoot me.

Lip tars are a very liquidy consistency and back when I bought mine (last spring), they came with a lip brush so you could apply the product easily onto the lips. Personally I find the best way to apply is by putting a couple of drops onto the centre of the lips before patting and smoothing the colour evenly using my fingers. Wow, they are pigmented. You will not need much at all, so when I say a couple of drops, I mean a couple of drops.

Once applied the product becomes semi-matte in finish – the less product you apply the more matte the finish will be – which personally I think is more flattering for such a nude colour, it’s gives more dimension to the lips. The ‘tar’ is not sticky at all, and does have a slight scent of peppermint – they have peppermint oil in them, so that’s no surprise. This oil also allows for the product to be moisturising for the lips.

The only downside to this product is that it doesn’t have the greatest lasting power. When it does break down on the lips, it does do so evenly, but it lasts 2-3 hours tops. Now I can only comment on how the product  I have acts, I’m unsure if they have since changed not only the packaging but also the formula, and I’m unsure if this applies for all the different colours – so please don’t take my word as gospel.

Overall I find that the lip tars are very highly pigmented in a fab range of colours which are created liquidy so they can be mixed to create many many different shades for the lips. They are different to any other product which I own and although it doesn’t last well on the lips I do love the look that it gives to them. So it’s still a recommendation from me.
