In my post So I went into Boots.. Another Haul I purchased the Revlon Colourstay Foundation on a complete whim. I’m happy with my ride or die MAC Studio Face & Body but there’s always that niggle in the back of your mind that tells you that there could be better out there, I know I’m not the only one with this niggle.

I’ve heard many different YouTubers and bloggers alike rave about this foundation and I’ll be honest I can see why. The product itself is medium to builable full coverage and is very highly pigmented meaning your skin is left looking even and flawless, creating a perfect base for your make up.


I chose the normal/dry version of the foundation as I have dry skin and I didn’t find it to cling to any patches on the skin and it didn’t become uncomfortable throughout the day which is great. What I will say is that if you put more than one layer of this on, you will be very aware it is on your face, it’s not a lightweight foundation. It’s very often compared to the heavy duty Estee Lauder DoubleWear so that’s no surprise.

The one big nag I have about this product is that I find it to be very pink based (see the swatch of my usual foundation next to it). I got the colour True Beige, maybe this was a mistake, but as you can see in my swatches it has a slight pinky red tinge to the colouring. Now it isn’t highly noticeable when I have finished my make up with bronzer etc added however I do find it can make my skin lean a bit towards the ashy side, which isn’t ideal.

The wear of this product is great, I would say it compares to my MAC Studio Face & Body in terms of it lasting pretty well and when it does begin to fade off it doesn’t become patchy on the skin. With long wear of the product however I have found it makes my skin look oily, this is easily resolved by using a piece of tissue paper and blotting off the excess but whilst it’s there you can look a little greasy.

In my honest opinion, aside from the colour and the greasy look with long wear I have really enjoyed this foundation and will continue to use it for day time wear (it has spf20 so it won’t be good for night time, especially if being photographed). It gives me a great even base to set the rest of my make up on and doesn’t break out my skin or go patchy with long wear. It’s a great high street foundation and I would recommend to anyone who prefers a higher coverage in their foundation routine.
