Top 5 Nail Varnishes for Summer

Finally the sun is shining and this means it’s officially becoming sandal weather. YAY! However, this means I now have to actually give myself pedicures as I can’t get away with having the same chipped nail varnish on for weeks on end as no socks will be covering these tootsies. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share with you my favourite summer toe colours. When it comes to my toe nails I am not one of those people that wishes them to match or coordinate with their finger nails. I couldn’t care less. However, I do enjoy experimenting with different colours and as you’ll see from my favourites, the bright ones are in my opinion the best.

Models Own Beach Party (£4.99, Amazon)
Can I just ask, what the hell happened to Models Own? They were my favourite nail varnish brand a few years back and I also own some gorgeous lip products from them and they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth. If you know, please do comment!
Anyway, this is an absolutely amazing neon orange colour which they released with their Hed Kandi Ibiza collection. It goes on pretty opaque in one coat and has a gorgeous sheen to it. This is the perfect holiday toe shade and looks even more show stopping with a tan on both toes and fingers.

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy (£5.70, Amazon)
Another item which was perhaps limited edition, I do apologise but it’s still available on Amazon – let’s all raise a glass to Amazon for keeping limited editions going strong. This is on a similar vain to Beach Party, however this is a gorgeous pink coral neon shade. This does chip easily if not applied with a good base and top coat, however, alone it does leave a gorgeous matte finish which I think is gorgeous. It can be a little streaky, so it does need about 3 layers for a flawless finish but it’s definitely worth it. Absolute stunner.

Essie Muchi Muchi (£7.99, Boots)
This is a gorgeous baby pink creamy finish nail varnish. It’s the most neutral of the bunch but if layered up it creates a stunning pastel pink which sets off a summer tan perfectly. It’s what I’ve got on my toes currently and it’s a non-statement cute toe colour. It is quite a sheer varnish so you will need to layer it around 4 times to get a fully opaque colour but I haven’t seen any colours quite as beautiful as this one to dupe it against, so therefore layering will have to be done.

Essie Bikini So Teeny (£7.99, Boots)
I’m sure everyone and their dogs and cats have this colour in their collection. It was all the range a couple of years ago and I can see why. It’s a gorgeous bright pastel perriwinkle shade. It’s the perfect way to make a statement on your feet without going all out neon like the first two shades. The varnish has tiny bits of glitter in it which when in the sunlight create the most beautiful shimmer. This is a shade that everybody needs!

Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours Pop Fiction (£1.99, Boots)
This nail varnish is my number one shade of blue. It’s bright and leaning towards the cobalt side whilst still being a true blue colour. It’s to die for on the toe nails and makes such a statement against simple sandals. Possibly my favourite of the whole bunch. And what’s even better is that it’s got brilliant staying power and it’s bloody cheap aswell, just £1.99.
