There’s nothing I love more than a matte lip. Come rain or shine I will 9 times out of 10 reach for a matte lip over any other lip product. I’d probably reach for one over a lip balm if I’m completely honest.

When I was out and about the other day I saw these lipsticks and I don’t know exactly what it was about them, though it was potentially the matte black packaging but I was drawn in, like a pig to mud.

The two colours which I got, after much swatching and deliberation were;
Nude Embrace – a cool toned brown nude
Rose Rush – a blue based mid pink
I thought both these shades would be perfect for the summer months (£6.99 each, Boots).

My goodness, these lipsticks are creamy. They glide onto the lips like no other leaving your lips feeling very hydrated and comfortable. You can tell that something is on the lips, but it’s not waxy or thick feeling in any shape or form.

They are very pigmented, you do not need to apply tons of layers to get the colour which you see in the bullet, and they are matte from application. I wouldn’t even say you need a lip liner with them unless you prefer a very defined lip.In terms of wear, I have only worn Nude Embrace all day so far, they aren’t the most long wearing. The lipstick only wore off when it came to eating a drinking. As they are a matte they do have better wear than a satin formula for example, but they will need reapplying if you’re out to dinner or out on the town. I’ll be honest, this is no big deal to me as I always take my lipstick with me where ever I go. When they do wear off however, they wear off evenly, not leaving any dreaded lipstick around the edge of the lips.

I think these are a brilliant formula of lipstick, Maybelline is not a brand I tend to reach for in terms of lip products but after trying these out and loving them I think they might be a brand I look into more in the future.
