The Most Effective Way to Wear Dark Lips – Make Up Tutorial

Dark Lips. They are so bold and look absolutely stunning on everyone but you do have to be very careful with the overall make up look. One wrong move and you can go from looking glam to looking like a hot mess. Personally, my favourite way to wear a dark lip is with a very simply light shimmery eye with plenty of lashes. It’s a great day look and could also be amped up for the nighttime with either a winged liner or a subtle smokey shadow around the eyes. Here’s how I achieve my favourite dark lip look..

Base
B. Youthful Anti-Ageing Foundation in Honey (£3, Superdrug)
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 20 (£5.99, Boots)
L.A. Girl PRO. Conceal HD in Toast to contour perimeters of face and nose (£5, Beauty Bay)
Foundation and both concealers applied with Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (£5.99, Boots)
L.A. Girl PRO. face powder in Creamy Natural all over the face and Toffee as a bronzer/natural warmth around the perimeters of the face (£6 each, Beauty Bay)
Applied using unbranded Duo-Fibre Brush.

Brows
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Medium Brown (£15, Beauty Bay)
Using Brow Brush from Zoeva classic eye set – see eyes section.

Eyes
MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre (£16, MAC Cosmetics), applied all over eye and upto brow bone with fingers.
Stila Eyes are the Window – Spirit Palette (£30, Beauty Bay)
Taking the shade Puppy into the crease and underneath the eye using the Soft Definer brush from the Zoeva collection until I had reached the desired subtle smokiness.
I then took the shade Wheat onto the lid itself using the and to further intensify the shimmer I took the infamous Kitten into the centre and inner corners of the eye.
All eyeshadow brushes from the Zoeva Classic Eye Collection (£38, Beauty Bay).
Maybelline Master Smoky Eye in Chocolate along both the water line and tightline (£5.99, Superdrug)
Sample of MAC False Lashes Extreme Black (Full size, £19, MAC Cosmetics)

Face
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Give Me Sun as a bronzer(£24, MAC Cosmetics)
Applied using powder brush from Morphe Brush 12 piece set (£12.50, Beauty Bay).
Zoeva Pink Spectrum Blush palette using the shade pk010 (£15, Beauty Bay)
Applied with Real Techniques Blush Brush (£9.99, Boots).

The Balm Mary Lou-luminizer applied to both cheeks and to further intensify the inner eye as a highlight (£17.50, ASOS – With Free Gift) – ATTENTION: A Must Have From ASOS – LINK IN POST!
Applied using fan brush from same Morphe set.

Lips
Coloured Raine Matte Lip Paint in Toostie (£15, Beauty Bay)
I then decided to add a bit more red to the lip, so in the middle of the lip I placed
Jeffree Star Liquid Lip Velour in Anna Nicole ($18, Jeffree Star Cosmetics)
and patted this in with my finger to give the desired ombre effect.
I then took my Maybelline Fit Me concealer on a lip brush from the Morphe set to perfect any uneven lip lines to ensure a crisp finish.
