All I Need is My Birthday Suit – Tanya Burr Eyeshadow Palette – Swatches & Review

I’m gonna go ahead and put it straight out there. I’m always very skeptical of products bought out by YouTubers and bloggers alike (if they aren’t make up artists by trade). I know that’s completely irrational because they know makeup inside and out  but it’s the truth I’m afraid.

Lines such as Tanya Burr herself and Zoella do tend to market themselves towards a younger audience aka 14-21 year olds and this can be seen by the cutesy girly packaging. Tanya has always been one of my favourites since I started watching her at university, so about 6 years ago, so it does fill me with joy to see how well she has done for herself. A true inspiration for all us beauty bloggers. So when I saw her most recent collection I noticed that she seems as though she is trying to not just be an affordable beauty brand for younger adults, but also a brand that’s taken seriously and I am interested!

I wished to purchase her lipstick in Pink Cocoa but unfortunately after checking numerous Superdrug stores in my area, online at Superdrug and Feel Unique I had to give up, but it is my mission to get my hands on it, and I will be sure to do a review.
So I went for my second choice, which thank goodness was available. The eyeshadow quad in Birthday Suit (£5.99, Superdrug).

Now first things first, this is still a very girly packaging, the mirror inside is a heart, but the copper-bronze colour to reflect the shades inside is a great touch to the palette and it feels nice in the hand. Not at all cheap, if you get what I am saying.

Upon opening this I was so happy! All 4 shades are a warm shades which could take you from daytime neutral to full blown nighttime glam. And I fell in love almost instantly, before even swatching them. I just knew they were right up my alley. So here are the shades;Marzipan – I’m gonna go ahead and say it, this is a complete dupe for Stila’s Kitten eyeshadow! It is a shimmery almost metallic looking champagne with a hint of pink. Perfect for highlighting the brow bone and inner corner or using on the lid to brighten the eye. You could also use this on the face as a stunning highlight colour.

Toast -Perfect warm, subtly rosey toned mid brown matte shade. This is a great transition shade, or brilliant to use as a one colour all over the eye to create a quick easy daytime appropriate smokey eye look. I can see me getting a hell of a lot of use out of this one. Say that 10 times fast haha!

Cocoa Sugar – Deep caramel brown with glitter. Any one else getting hungry reading this post or is it just me? This shade will make a great lid colour, it’s very similar to MAC’s Woodwinked, but with added shimmer.

Soft Truffle – Deep chocolate warm matte brown. Perfect for creating dimension within your eye look and smudging out to get a smouldering smokey eye.

All of these shades are so creamy to the touch and blend out like a dream. I have to say that I am extremely impressed with this palette and it has made me want to look into buying more items from her range!

Overall this palette is a perfect quad which I think you could create limitless warm eye looks with, and let’s be honest isn’t that the dream? It’s extremely affordable and it’s great quality. I’m gonna be sure to create some different looks with this palette so keep your eyes peeled over on my Instagram. So what more do you need than your Birthday Suit? I’d say, nothing more.

  2. Great post and you’re totally right. It’s easy to be sceptical but Tanya’s products look more and more chic, good quality and great value for money. They just sell out quickly! I haven’t used any yet, but definitely will after reading your well informed review xx

  3. Hi,
Can also give dupes for the matte shades. I’ve almost run out of Toast and it’s my go to everyday shade and the darker brown is perfect for a subtle daytime liner. The shimmers not so much.
    Thanks
    🙂
