Everything You Know About Cleansers is a Lie

For awhile now I’ve been on a mission to use only natural products on my skin. The skin is the most important feature so why would you infuse it with harsh chemicals or any manufactured ingredients. I’m a big lover, as you’ll know if you read my blog, of B. beauty, but recently I’ve gone one step further and started using a cleanser that’s completely vegan, cruelty free and natural.

It’s in your cupboard (and if it’s not, it should be) and it’s the secret to healthy skin. Have you guessed yet? Yes, it’s coconut oil. I’m not the only one raving about it and for good reason. This product is natures best kept beauty secret.. well was.

I use coconut oil as a cleanser both morning and evening. It’s most effective for me at night when I’m taking off my makeup. I take a 20p piece of coconut oil and warm it up in my hands by simply rubbing them together until the oil becomes a runny consistency.

I’ll then use circular motions over my face to breakdown any makeup and as it’s all natural it’s gentle enough to rub into your eyes and eyelashes, getting rid of even waterproof mascara!

Once the makeup’s broken down I then take a flannel and remove any excess oil along with the broken down product from the face. I then repeat this process to ensure my face is completely cleansed. The process of oiling the face and then gently exfoliating with the flannel leaves the skin super soft and ready for any moisturiser, facial oil or serums before bed. It’s also great for doing before putting your makeup on in the morning, as your base is super smooth.

A great benefit about coconut oil is that it’s a natural antibacterial. This means that it not only leaves your skin super soft and clean, it also kills any bacteria which could cause breakouts on the skin. It doesn’t matter which coconut oil you use, they’re all going to do the same job, but I’d definitely recommend finding one which is organic. My personal favourite is the Lucy Bee Coconut Oil (£9.99, Ocado).

This product has really changed my skin game and if you’re not already part of the coconut oil train, I highly suggest you jump on it! You won’t regret it.

Love, always.

  1. Agreed! Oh my goodness, how I love coconut oil! I use it as a makeup remover and a daily moisturizer. It totally changed my skin for the better. I seldom get blemishes anymore since using it, and it’s definitely the best at removing makeup. Love it!

    1. After using it I use a micellar water on a cotton pad. I find that gets rid of any excess left on the face before going in with serums and moisturisers x
