Makeup Revolution Banana Powder – Love or Loathe?

Ever since posting my ‘A Little Essentials Superdrug Haul‘, there’s been a lot of you beauties anticipating my Makeup Revolution Banana Luxury powder review. Well, wait no longer.. it’s finally here.

Makeup Revolution is a brand that I’ve always appreciated. Not only is it reasonably priced, on trend and forever bringing out new and exciting products. It’s also cruelty-free, yes!

Earlier this year they released their Luxury Banana powder (£5, Superdrug) and due to the major loose powder baking hype – it was bound to fly off the shelves and be on everyone’s want list. I mean, come on, it was on mine.

As soon as my current face powder started to run out, I knew that it was exactly the item I wanted to purchase. I vary regularly between loose powder and pressed powder, but I do prefer a loose powder to set my concealer.

The banana powder comes in a large size (42g) which will last any beauty lover a long amount of time and due to the purse-friendly price tag this is more than reasonable.

The powder itself is very finely milled and it’s super soft when applied. I love to apply mine with a damp beauty blender or my primark beauty oval brush. The only problem is the packaging, as it comes in a large tub – there’s not really anywhere to put the product. I do try and empty it into the lid – but as the holes in the top are quite large, you can end up getting too much product out and when trying to replace the lid – yes, you’ve guessed it – powder gets EVERYWHERE. I’d suggest if you have an empty loose powder pot – empty some product into there for a mess-free application each time.

When applied, the powder can be used for a fine mist to set the face – which I like to do on a duo fibre brush, or as mentioned before packed onto the face to bake with a more dense brush or beauty blender.

As the powder is yellow based, it’s great for brightening the under eye and centre of the face. I can however imagine, if you’re fair skinned or have a pink undertone to your skin, this wouldn’t be best suited for you – but don’t quote me on that!

Overall, I love this powder, it stops my under eyes from creasing and keeps my makeup in place all day long without caking up my face. Aside from the packaging, there’s nothing I’d change about this product and I’d highly recommend this for anyone who’s in the market for a new loose powder!

Love, always.

  1. I so agree with your blog! It’s a love hate with the banana powder the brand is great but the powder just goes everywhere which isn’t helpful when you’re trying to quickly powder up before heading out!
