My Ultimate No Makeup Makeup

Now don’t be fooled, when I say no makeup makeup, I don’t mean no mascara or brows – that would be unheard of. I mean, looking like your skin is fresh with nothing on it – with a lick of mascara and a taming of the brows.

As the saying goes, ‘you always want what you don’t have’, and for me that’s freckles. I think freckles are the ultimate in your skin looking undone – if they can be seen, it suggests there’s no foundation on the face. If you have freckles naturally, I’m jealous! They’re beautiful and I hope you love them! I use a couple of products to draw them on and I try and make them look as natural as is possible.

For this makeup look, I only actually use SIX products and it takes 10 minutes max. I added a berry pink lip to this look to add a pop of colour – and if you have a more important day, it makes you look even more put together and fresh than you already do.

It’s a perfect makeup look if you want to save time and look put together to go to the pub, enjoy the sun, have a family day out – the possibilities are endless.

P R O D U C T S

WunderBrow 1 Step Brow Gel in Brown/Black (£19.95, Boots)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown (£15, Beauty Bay)
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Light (£5.99, Boots)
Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronze Universal (£32, Boots)
NYX Doll Eye Waterproof Mascara in Black (£8, Boots)
(Additional) MAC Lipstick in Embrace Me (no longer available) mixed with Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick in 107 (£5.49, Boots)

I firstly did my eyebrows using WunderBrow and the Zoeva Brow Line brush (£8, Beauty Bay). WunderBrow is a great product as once it’s on, it’s on. It doesn’t stay put for days on end, but it definitely leaves a good tint on your brows meaning the day after all you have to do is fill in where it’s worn off rather than completely do your brows again.

I then took my Maybelline concealer and using my fingers I placed this under my eyes and on my eyelids to even out the discolouration.

I then take my Anastasia Dipbrow and a fine brush from the Morphe 12 piece set (£14, Beauty Bay) to draw freckles in the centre of my face. I mainly focus them around the sides of my nose upto where you would put your highlight. I ensure they’re very sporadic and also if I have any blemishes, I’ll cover them with the dipbrow to make a freckle.

The next step is to bronze up my face. As I only self tan my body, my face is a different colour completely. To make everything match up I take the Chanel on a Real Techniques Buffing brush (4 piece Core Collection Set, £22.99, Superdrug) and bronze the whole face, focusing on the high points of the face where you naturally bronze. As it’s a cream product, it leaves the skin looking naturally glowy and doesn’t have enough coverage to make the skin look cakey. It also lets the freckles peak through and look even more natural.

Finally, I’ll apply my mascara to make my eyes look nice and awake.

A finishing touch – which you don’t have to do, you could just apply a lip balm – is to apply lipstick. With a look like this, I love a bold lip, because it literally looks like you’ve just applied mascara and lipstick and headed out the door.

I love berry lips and I think they go stunning against bronzed neutral skin, but you could really go for any colour. A lipgloss would also look amazing.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this look, and let me know your tips for a natural makeup look.

Love, always.

  1. Amazing tuto! I reblogged this one on my blog. I cannot do it for mayself, I thing my current look wouldn’t go with the freckles, but I think readers of my blog would love to know your blog!

  2. I love freckles on other people. When I was little I used to call them angel kisses because someone told me it was where the angels had come down and kissed you while you slept. Yours look totally natural! Is it weird that I want to try covering up my natural ones and use this tutorial to re-apply them where they’ll be most flattering?!
