For many of you, temperatures of 24 degrees and over may be the norm. Here in the UK, where hardly any of our houses have air con, it’s a bloody rare thing and we ain’t used to it, not one bit. This is why we’re forever moaning about the weather, if it’s not too warm, it’s raining or snowing or just plain old freeing.

As the sun’s been out for over a week now (let’s hope it stays), it’s important that we all put on suncream. I’m going to tell you about my favourite ones and even if the weather doesn’t stay – it’ll be a great review if you’re lucky enough to be going on a holiday this year.

When it comes to suncream, I honestly believe that you get what you pay for. There’s no excuses for scrimping on the cheapest option and even if you’re going outside for just an hour or two, it’s important to apply your lotion just as you would a moisturiser. You’ll regret not doing this when your skin starts ageing and your peeling from sunburn – owch!

My personal favourite suncream brand is Piz Buin. They are a well-known sun lotion brand and they’re dedicated to what they do.

Their sun lotion contains both UVA and UVB protection and the formulas that I prefer are the ‘1 Day Long’ and the ‘Tan and Protect’. It really does what it says on the tube!

I go for the Piz Buin 1 Day Long Long Lasting Sun Lotion in 15SPF (£10, Boots) and I apply this all over first thing in the morning, at least 30 minutes before leaving the house. This ensures that the lotion sinks into your skin and has the chance to begin working to it’s best potential.

The 1 Day Long forumla is brilliant. Not only is it not greasy or sticky, it moisturises your skin and is sweat and water resistant.

Now don’t be fooled that you can apply this and be done for the day. If you’re on holiday and constantly in and out of the pool or sea, you’ll be sure to rub off some of your lotion – so please make sure to reapply throughout the day if this is what you’re doing. No sun lotion, no matter how big the claim, will stay put throughout numerous water contact and towel drying.

Alongside this no, 15SPF isn’t the highest but to ensure full protection, as soon as I start to feel my face especially or my shoulders getting too hot, I apply the Piz Buin Tan & Protect 30SPF (£9, Boots) throughout the day to these areas. This is also great to apply where your sun lotion may rub off where your top straps or shorts line.

I find that by using the combination of these lotions, not only do I not burn, I also get the most gorgeous and even tan – something that everyone is looking for.

I also find that this lotion doesn’t break out my face and I can imagine that it’s great to use for any skin type – they do also have an allergy range if you are particularly sensitive – amazing! 

I’d definitely recommend checking out this range, they have everything for your needs and at most products being around the £10 mark, I don’t think you could put a better price on sun protection for the quality of this product. Also it smells bloody delicious!! Mmmm.
