A Feel Good Lipstick

At this time of year it seems to be all about the reds, the deep berries and as it is all year round, the nudes. But it’s unfair to leave the pinks out – especially the super bright ones.

I personally adore a bright pink lip, I think it just does something to brighten the face, it looks super cute and means you can get away with doing the minimal with the rest of your makeup.

One that I’ve had for over a year now but never given it as much attention and I probably should have is Candy Yum Yum by MAC (£16, Amazon//£16.50, MAC Cosmetics).

This lipstick is a neon pink, matte finish triumph.

As with all MAC lipsticks, it’s got that beautiful – almost good enough to eat – vanilla sweet scent. As a matte, it glides beautifully onto the lips without drying them out throughout the day but it does stick around long enough for you to not have to worry about it fading.

The pigment is strong, so you can apply this with one coat – but personally I build it up to get the most vibrancy from this shade.

Now, don’t get me wrong, if you’re going to a dinner party, out for cocktails etc – I’d definitely recommend taking this with you because you’re gonna need to top up. As with most lipsticks, oil and plenty of liquid don’t mix with it and you can almost guarantee that they’ll be lipstick marks on your glass.

If you do need to top it up,  be assured that it’s not going to weigh the lips down and it won’t leave them all cakey and patchily built up – which isn’t a look that anyone wants to go for.

However, if you’re nipping out shopping with friends and simply doing a lot of nattering – you’re probably not going to need to apply another layer. It’s pretty sturdy in that sense.

Overall, this is one of my all time favourite pop of colour lipsticks. As I said in the intro, it really brightens up the face and it doesn’t matter what time of year I put this on, it just makes me feel fabulous.

  3. What a stunning shade. I also adore this colour. I’ve Violetta and Up the Amp which are darker. MAC is my favorite lipstick brand. The smell is to die for.

    1. Yes, I completely agree that there’s nothing quite like the smell of MAC lipsticks.

      Violetta looks like an absolutely stunning colour – it’s one I’ll definitely check out next time I’m in a MAC store. x

  8. You look awesome in pink lipsticks (just followed you on insta). I remember buying Candy Yum Yum at some point but giving it away because I thought it was too Barbie on me. Now I wish I didn’t! But pink is definitely your color. ❤

      I do love pink lipsticks but don’t find myself wearing them as often as nudes or reds – your compliment will definitely encourage me to wear them more often!

  13. I received my very first MAC lippie last December…it’s a nude tho..Whirl. Have you heard of it? I’d love to try the pink ones they to offer too! Tfs
