Shopping the Stash – MAC Face & Body Studio Foundation

I honestly think that when ASOS announced they were going to start selling MAC on their website, the whole beauty community went into a complete mass breakdown of excitement and happiness – me included.

I love MAC products, they’re pricey but definitely worth the money and they’re products that I wear on an everyday basis knowing that they work for me. It’s not very often that I buy them as I either have to blind buy (well, research a thousand swatches off all your blogs) online, whilst praying that there’s a deal on the MAC website. Wait until I go into a city where there’s a MAC store. Or, I buy it from duty free at the airport.

Knowing that thanks to my ASOS premium I could order products and get them the very next day with no delivery charge made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I went on the website as soon as the products were live and then.. I stopped myself.

Although I have many MAC products that I use and love each day, I also have some that are within my beauty drawers begging to see the day of light again. So, I decided that before I go and buy more products – which lets be honest, I don’t really need – that I’d shop my stash of MAC products and boy, oh boy, am I glad I did.

If you’re a follower of my blog you’ll know that recently I’ve been obsessed with The Ordinary Serum foundation. I bought my first one at the start of the year and I’ve already had to buy a new bottle, as I literally wear it everyday. Due to this, my other foundations are getting pushed to one side and starting to feel a little lonely. So when shopping my MAC stash, I thought what better way to go than dig out my Face & Body Studio Foundation in C4 (£24.50 for 50ml, ASOS).

I got this foundation a while back after seeing so many people on YouTube such as Pixiwoo, Sabrina to name a few, raving about it. The thing that fascinated me the most is that it’s a water based foundation that you can wear as a light coverage or build it up whilst keeping the skin looking like skin. It’s an essential in many makeup artists collections as it can also be used on legs, arms, chest etc to even out skin tone.

The shade I have matches me perfectly when I’m nice and tanned. The reason I originally got this shade is that I wanted to take it away with me so I could wear a light coverage in the day and build it up for full glam at night. As I hadn’t worn it in so so long, I topped up my fake tan so I could give it the attention it deserves.

I used to pop it on with either a Real Techniques Stippling brush (£10.99, Superdrug) or the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (£5.99, Superdrug). This time, I tried it with my new favourite foundation brush, the Zoeva Silk Finish brush (£13, Beauty Bay) and my god, this worked like a charm.

The best way to apply is by popping the foundation directly onto the face and then using gentle, circular motions blending the product into the skin. What I love about Face & Body is that the more you work it in, the thicker it seems to get meaning you can really build up the coverage with the product you have. I tend to do my whole face and then if I feel I want to build anywhere up a little more, I’ll just add some more and buff it in.

The wear of this product is insane. I’d really forgotten how much I loved it. It feels like nothing and I mean, nothing, on the skin. Powder and cream products alike blend beautifully on top of it and it really does last all day, through heat, cold and all.

Now that I’ve rekindled my love for MAC Face & Body, I’m definitely considering buying a lighter shade to match me when I’m not tanned. The thing is, do I get the small bottle (50ml) or the large (120ml)…

I’d love to know what your favourite MAC foundation or just product in general is. Let’s be honest, I’ll probably be on ASOS adding more stuff to my basket before I know it.

Love, always.

  1. Probably Face & Body is the best (I should find mine somewhere on the shelf…) lightweight and really long wearing, but before Estée Lauder Double Wear I was obsessed their Pro Long Wear. Nice review

    1. Yes, when I rediscovered it, I really had forgotten what a unique foundation it is!
I’ve never tried any of the double wear foundations but I’m always seeing people’s reviews of them – maybe I should get a sample next time I’m at a counter! x
