The perfect mascara is out there I’m sure? It’s always a case of finding it and if you do, you still feel like you want to try others – just to make sure that the one you thought was the holy grail is.

I feel like this is my constant battle with mascara and I end up trying so many, I don’t actually remember which one I’d class as my holy grail anymore.

After seeing Tati – Glamlifeguru – rave and rave about L’Oreal Paradise mascara (£11.99, Superdrug), I knew that I wanted to give it a try. As someone who only wears waterproof mascara, I grabbed this version of the mascara when I saw it in the 3 for 2 offer in Superdrug – which of course is my favourite high street store (oh yeah, I said it, Superdrug’s bomb).

First off, let’s talk packaging. The teal blue against the copper/rose gold toned metal is an absolute dream. It’s one of the only mascaras I think you could actually put proudly on display – that isn’t £25+.

The mascara itself is said to create extreme length, intense volume and all day hold. The ultra-soft brush is said to coat lashes with a silky-smooth formula which contains castor oil to keep the lashes nourished.

I find that this formula really does make my lashes pop. It makes them super black, super long and definitely volumised compared to without. The only thing I would say about it is that when layered, it does start to clump – so I’d advise doing one really good coat, rather than a couple of thin coats to layer it all up.

Throughout the day, I can confirm that there’s no smudging or flaking of the mascara – I’ve ene rubbed my eyes without thinking and the product has stayed firmly on.

If any of you wear waterproof mascara, you’ll know the major downside of it is the removal process. It’s a catch 22 as you want a product that won’t smudge, flake or come off with water and at the same time, you want to be able to take it off easily at night – so you’re not left rubbing at your eyes or leaving residue on your lashes overnight causing irritation.

I find that this is one of the easier ones to take off, but please understand that when I’m saying this, it doesn’t mean it’s a simple process. What I do is soak my eyes with warm water on my Face Halo (£7, Boots) before slowly and gently using the microfibre amazingness to rub it away. After I’ve done this, I then take a cotton pad with some micellar water – I’m currently using the Superdrug Vitamin E one (£2.99, Superdrug) – to get into the lashes and take off any residue of product that’s been left behind.

Overall, I’d definitely say that this is one of the best mascaras from the drugstore that I’ve tried. I’ve been using it for just over a month now and it’s not drying out or becoming clumpy in any way, how some can get after time. Although it’s a little more on the pricey side for a mascara, it’s definitely worth the extra couple of quid.
