How I’ve Started The New Year

I don’t if any of you remember but I did a post last year about how I wanted to share more about me, rather than just reviews of makeup and what my face looks like >>Let’s Start a Conversation<< It might sound silly to some that I want to share my life, but if I’m someone that people can relate to and not just look at my thoughts on makeup, I think it’ll make visiting my blog something that more and more people want to do – and if I say so myself, I think I’m an alright person.

Because of this, I’ve decided I’m going to do a weekly (maybe bi-weekly if nothing interesting has happened) update of my life, what’s going on, what programmes I’m watching etc – so you get to know me.

This year is a super exciting year for me, as I’m getting married. This also means there’s a lot of planning, stress and probably breakdowns. I don’t know if any of you are getting married this year but if you are, these weekly updates might be right up your street, as it’s where I’m going to share how I’m doing with it, along with tips on how to make sure everything’s just how you want it to be.

So, 2019 – what’s happened so far?

Well, I’ll tell ya. First off we’ll go with what I’ve been doing and honestly, it’s mainly been a mix of work, making paper flowers and watching Game of Thrones.

You may be thinking, making paper flowers what the hell? Thing is, I’m not a flower fan – at all. So for my wedding, I don’t really want to pay someone hundreds of pounds (yeah, flowers ain’t cheap) for something that a) won’t last and b) I won’t really like. After doing a bit of googling, I found some great links on how to make paper flowers and hey presto, decided this is what I’m going to do. In terms of who I’m making them for it’s only going to be mine and my bridesmaids bouquets, possibly buttonholes for the groomsmens suits (but that isn’t set in stone yet because someone doesn’t even have their suits). I’ve so far spent I’d say about 12 hours making them and including stems, I’ve made around 50 flowers. In terms of materials I’ve only spent about £15, so who’s the real winner here? Best thing of all, everyone can keep their paper flowers for as long as they like and if they don’t, well that’s up to them.

Secondly, Game of Thrones. The new and final season is upon us this year and although I’ve been watching along as it’s been on the TV screens, it’s such an in-depth programme that I get confused and don’t know half the characters names. I decided that as we’ve only got a few months before the last season airs, I’d rewatch it from the beginning to get myself prepared. I’m already on season 4 – please bear in mind I’ve spent a lot of hours making flowers and having something on in the background is much appreciated. Watching it the second time round I’m finding a lot of things I can’t even remember happening and also, I’m actually remember people’s names. Instead of the bald man with no penis, I know his name’s Varys. See, I’m learning everyday.

Another wedding related subject (sorry if I’m boring you already with this, but it really does take over your life) is that the abroad hen party is officially underway. We’ve decided to go to Budapest. It’s cheap, full of amazing architecture and somewhere I’ve always fancied going. So far there’s about 12 hens and I’m really excited about being the bride-to-be when we go away, especially the dick boppers and tacky veils.

Another milestone moment is that my puppy Cooper’s turned 1 on 10 January and my goodness, he’s a handsome boy! We rescued him when he was 6 months old from an amazing charity who work with dogs from Cyprus. It’s so amazing to see him growing up, especially with Bruno as his big (little) brother. If you’re looking to rescue a dog, I’d definitely recommend checking the D.O.G Rescue Cyprus charity out – the work they do is amazing and if you’re not looking to get a dog, any donations you’re able to give are always appreciated by them.

I’ll be sure to catch up with you again soon and I’d love to know what you’ve all been up to so far this year! How many brides out there that would like a bridal series? Be sure to leave any other post suggestions in the comments below, I love knowing what you’d like to see.

Love, always.

  1. Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials! And the flowers are gorgeous – you are very talented! I don’t watch Game of Thrones, but I did read the books – awesome story! I have a cat, but I love dogs too – all animals really. I think it’s wonderful that you went to an animal rescue organization instead of a pet store. Good on ya!

    1. Thanks so much carol! It’s all coming around so fast, that I feel totally unprepared for the wedding 😂

I really wanted to read the books before the last season but I realised I’d probably left it way too late to get them all done before the new season!

I’ve adopted both my dogs! There’s so many dogs out there that need homes, it’s always best to go to them first! X

    1. Thanks Hannah! I’m thinking of doing a post on them, no idea what people would use them for but it might be good for other brides to be – or even blog props 😂

      1. Don’t sweat the small stuff! You honestly won’t remember it💖 take time to see everyone who attends because I regret that the most! I don’t remember all who came to support us 😢 and really focus on you and your soon to be spouse. It’s about you two and your commitment to each other. The love you share. Not the ceremony. And I say to not sweat the small stuff but cherish the small things with your man. Like the way he holds your hand in the ceremony or the way he looks at you as you come down the aisle. Soak those moments in. And have lots of pictures taken!!! Develop them and frame them right away! I still only have one wedding photo up to this day because we keep saying we’ll do it! And never stop dating! 💖💖💖💖
