Battle of the Empties: Body Moisturisers

There’s nothing I love more than a moisturiser, as you’ll guess from this empties haul and I find I have different ones for different seasons. I mean, a rich luxurious body butter in the Summer isn’t really what I’m looking for. As I’ve collected a few, I decided to give you some knowledge about them and give them a score out of 10. I feel it’s hard for a moisturiser to get a low score, unless they’re not doing their job properly and I always stick to brands known for their skincare, that I know and love.

I hope you enjoy this week’s ‘battle of the empties’ and to help those who may be trying to convert to vegan and cruelty-free products, I’ve included a code by the moisturisers for ease! What kind of post would you like to see next? Makeup? Skincare? Beauty essentials?!

Almond Milk Body Yogurt: The Body Shop, £8.50 (V&CF)
I was actually lucky enough to get a voucher with an ASOS order, allowing me to get this product when they came out for just £4 and of course, I jumped on the bandwagon. This moisturiser is a lot different from the others due to the texture, as I’m sure you can guess from the name ‘body yogurt’.

It’s described as a lightweight, fast-absorbing gel-cream that works just as well on damp skin and helps the skin appear radiant. I’d definitely agree about the texture and it certainly doesn’t feel heavy like moisturiser, but you can still feel something on the skin. I found that this product left me feeling moisturised and as with all The Body Shop products it smells amazing.

The almond was definitely a good choice and I found this was the perfect holiday product, so you could get straight out after you’d had your evening shower. I definitely want to try the other flavours at some point and hope there will be some offers on soon!

Vanilla Pumpkin Body Butter: The Body Shop, £15 (CF)
Every single time that Autumn rolls around, this product is straight in my shopping basket and coming home with me. There’s nothing I love more than a body butter when it starts to get cold and The Body Shop ones have never let me know. They feel so rich and luxurious when you put them on and my god, they leave your skin feeling super soft!

This scent is definitely my favourite, with it’s slight spicy yet sweet smell and you can guarantee it’ll be back in my life come September time this year as well! Along with another one for good luck – I mean you’ve got to stay moisturised in the colder months, right?

Dream Cream: Lush, £14.95 (V&CF)
I’m gonna go ahead and say it, this product pretty much changed my life when I first discovered it and you can read all about it here >> It Really is a Dream Cream << In this post, you’ll see that I used it a face moisturiser, makeup base and everything in between. In this post though, I’m going to talk about it as a body one!

First off, I LOVE the scent of this product. I couldn’t put my finger on what it is but my god, it smells good. It’s described by Lush themselves as ‘Rich, cooling and protective to the skin, the combination of calming chamomile, organic, extra virgin olive oil and creamy, Fair Trade, organic cocoa butter soothes and hydrates.’ I can’t explain how much this calms my skin and any major dry patches are gone within a couple of days of using this on them. I’d highly recommend this product if you’re sensitive, as the oats in this product are said to be perfect for those who suffer from eczema.

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream: Boots, £8.50 (V&CF)
Sugar crush is hands down my favourite scent within the Soap & Glory range, okay well I also love their breakfast smoothie but in the summer, it’s this one for sure! The lime oil that’s in this body buttercream really makes it zingy and it’s so amazing, as it sticks around all day if you pop it on in the morning.

I prefer this buttercream for the summer months, as although it has all the moisturising properties, it’s not as rich as The Body Shop Body Butters for example. I’d describe it as a middle ground between a lotion and a body butter. I love how much you get in these tubs too! Definitely an all-time favourite.

BEING by Sanctuary Spa Cloudberry and Lychee Blossom Body Lotion: Boots, £7.50 (CF)
First off, this is the first moisturiser I’ve had in a long time that comes with a pump and my god, how handy it is. I absolutely loved this for when I’ve just stepped out of the shower as the smells was so powerful. It’s sweet and fruity all at the same time and it lingers for a couple of hours after being applied – although I think I’d prefer other scents in the range more.

I like the lotion feeling of this product, as it’s lightweight on the skin. I find it keeps me moisturised throughout the day, but definitely not as much as the body butters would. Nevertheless, I absolutely love this product and would love to try the other scents from this range in the future. They’re definitely a handy one to have with the pump feature!
