Hands up if you’re one of those girls that will get away with as many days dry shampoo as she can, because you really don’t want to wash your hair more than once a week. ’cause that’s me to a tee. I absolutely hate washing my hair, there’s so much of it and it gets knotty and then I hate blow drying my hair, so that means I have to leave it to air-dry. Oh, the list of reasons why I hate drying my hair goes on, but the moral of the story is that dry shampoo is always in my life. Today I’ll be going through what I assume is the most famous shampoo from Batiste and comparing it to a splurge counterpart from Living Proof. So let the battle begin..

I’ve used Batiste Dry Shampoo since I can remember, I’d probably say I started using it ‘full time’ in my uni days (which was 8 years ago). I personally find it doesn’t leave too much of a white cast on my hair, soaks up the extra oil I don’t need and can be built up over a few days without looking gross – although, I’ll be honest it can start to feel gross.

The scent I usually go for is either Original or Tropical and I’ll always go for the biggest size they have, which is 400ml (£4.99, Boots). I find that this dry shampoo never lets me down, a bottle lasts me around a month and considering how much I use it, I think that’s really good for the price. I always get my hands on the tiny ones toon (as seen in these pictures) as they’re great for if you’re going away for the night or you’re popping to the gym and don’t have time to wash your hair after. They’re only a pound or two and you can always find them in the holiday toiletries section at Boots or Superdrug.

Last year, I was kindly sent the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo. I was super excited to try it, as it’s a brand I’d never buy due to the higher price tag. Now for a 92ml bottle of this stuff, it’s £10 (Feel Unique) – just to put it into perspective.

I used this product a couple of times, to really find out why it was so much more than my usual Batiste and honestly, I just couldn’t tell you the difference. First off, yes, it smells super lovely. Not that Batiste smells nasty, I personally love the Original and Tropical scents but do find some of the others are a little artificial and too strong for a dry shampoo. With the Living Proof one, it’s a proper grown up smell (you know what I mean surely).

In terms of the actual product, I found it got rid of my oils and didn’t leave a white cast on my hair. I think I used a bit more than I would with the Batiste, cause I find the Batiste one’s a bit more gritty and talc like – which is personally what I prefer, as I know it’ll really soak up the oils.

I honestly don’t see any reason why you’d pay £6 more for a much smaller bottle of a product that does the same job as its ‘save’ counterpart and for that reason, Batiste wins my heart in this battle.

I’d love to know if you use the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo and if there’s any major pros you’re able to share with others. Obviously we all have very different hair types and my opinion is that the Batiste works just as well for me as the splurge dry shampoo – so why would I pay more?
