Pink Hair, Don’t Care

Just over 18 months ago I decided it was time to start caring for my hair. I know this may sound strange, but what I mean is find a hairdresser that gets me, start with regular trimming (so my hair can grow) and colour my hair in a way that isn’t damaging.

So did you find them?

I sure did! My hairdresser Imogen knew exactly what I wanted from the first time I went into the salon. She helped get me the perfect natural blonde, long hair for my wedding day.

But now the weddings been and gone, I knew I wanted to go a little bit crazy and colourful because life’s too short!

Pink, pink, pink

Before every appointment with Imogen, I’ll violently go through Pinterest to find inspiration (as I’m not very good at getting my ideas over in words). These are the inspiration pictures I showed her;

The process.

To help protect my hair from damage, we only went with a half head of foils this time. For me, this is more than enough brightness.

Each time I go, I’ll always get baby lights, as this is the best way for me to get a colour that also grows out naturally. I like this method and it allows me to only get my hair done 4 times a year. Hands up for less maintenance. I’m lucky that I have a good natural colour. This alllows my roots to look like that ‘soft root’ most people crave.

It’s all in the toner.

Once the colour was done, Imogen put on a toner to make my hair go this gorgeous rose pink colour. I couldn’t tell you the exact colour but I know the salon uses Kevin Murphy, so it’ll be one of theirs!

I’m so happy with my hair and I’m already thinking about what colour I can go for next. What I love about this pink is that it’s still ‘classy’. I don’t think people would be like ‘woah, you have pink hair’ – even if that’s what my husband said.

Maintenance.

To keep the colour going until my next appointment, which will likely be around the end of January/February, Imogen recommended the Kevin Murphy Autumn Angel conditioner (£23, Cult Beauty). This is a shine treatment that adds a rose-y hue to the hair. It’s also cruelty-free and vegan (major brownie points).

I’m to use this every time I wash my hair. Alongside every other wash, to leave it on for 10-15 minutes to really allow it to work.

What colour hair do you think I should go for next time? I’m thinking a more peachy tone for the summer months.

Love, always – B
