Good Things Come To Those Who Hustle

At the start of the year I made the decision to just go for it with my illustrations. I’ve always been a very creative person but have tended to stick to calligraphy type art, rather than actual pictures of things. Without sounded big headed, I know I can draw so thought, why not give it a go and see how it goes.

I love it.

I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy drawing as much as I do. There’s not a day you’ll see me now where I don’t have my iPad and Apple Pencil in tow. It’s my way of being creative and also keeps me sane. More so now, than ever.

Opportunities.

As a vegan blogger, it obviously made sense to me to not only review food and drink but also to draw it. By drawing food I love or have recently tried and then tagging in the companies, this gets my name out there. They sometimes repost what I’ve drawn and if other companies see, they may get in touch to see if I’ll draw something for them.

Of course, I absolutely love this and feel honoured to do it.

Making a living.

At the moment, I still have a full time job. I do my illustrations between work and life, of course trying my best to do something every day. I would absolutely love to do this as my job, I couldn’t think of any better way to spend my days than drawing either dogs for people, food for companies and anything else.

My commissions are open.

If you’re one of the people that like my illustrations and would like for me to draw your dog, maybe you fancy a logo or anything else, I’m here for you. Of course, I’m not going to be able to do the work for free but I can certainly give you the best price for now as I’m just getting started in my journey.

Even since I started drawing dogs around 2 months ago, I already have changed up my techniques for a more detailed drawing. It’s mad how practice can really make perfect.

At the end of the day, good things come to those who hustle. So if you have a dream, don’t expect it to just happen. Work towards making it happen, just like I’m doing.

To see more of my illustrations and general day to day life, head over to my Instagram as that’s where I’m most social. I’d love to draw something for you too, so pop me a DM on there if you’d like to get a quote. As a guide, I’m currently pricing work between £20 – £50 depending on how many hours I think it will take me. Of course, the more detail, the more it will cost.

Love, always – B

  1. Your illustrations are so great! I studied art and I am attempting to better my illustrative skills..but using text within illustration scares me!! Any tips? I used to use text a lot within paintings!
