Remedy Ginger & Lemon Kombucha

I feel like about 6 months ago Kombucha was all the range. I’ve had two different flavours from Remedy Kombucha in my The Vegan Kind Lifestyle boxes. The first one wasn’t quite my style as it was cherry flavoured and although I love cherries, I don’t love cherry flavoured things. This flavour however was right up my street..

What is kombucha?

Before we get into the actual review of this drink, let’s talk about what the hell kombucha is. So, from the Remedy website it states that it’s a fermented sweet tea with wild healthy bacteria and yeasts.

The drink itself will be sweet and sour with living cultures and organic acids that are good for your gut health, as well as your overall well-being.

Remedy.

The way that Remedy makes their kombucha is a little different. They contain absolutely no sugar! They’re a little family run business with a big passion for what they do and this really shines through.

Ginger & Lemon.

In my March The Vegan Kind box I received the Remedy Ginger & Lemon Kombucha. I always think the cost of one of these cans is quite a lot (around £2.40) but I suppose if you were to go out, you’d buy a fancy lemonade or drink for around this price wouldn’t you, so what’s the difference to treating yourself at home?

For this drink, Remedy describe it as the following;

♡ A classic with a twist
♡ Hot and sour, fiery and tangy
♡ The perfect tummy tamer

How did I find it?

For me, this drink was delicious. It had the same ‘fizziness’ as a sparkling water with flavour added (if that makes sense). The lemony really shone through and in that sense, it reminded me of a fresh lemonade with a nice warm spiciness to it from the ginger.

I did feel there was a bit of a weird aftertaste, this is probably the kombucha fermented properties that I’m not used to. If anything, it made me drink more as the first taste you get when taking a sip is absolutely delicious.

I’d definitely get this flavour again, as it feels like a fancy soft drink you’d get when you go out to a bar. Add a lemon slice and some ice and you’ve got yourself a mocktail.

Have you tried kombucha before? I’d love to know what you think!

Love, always – B
