CEL HairCare

Doing what I do I’m extremely lucky to be sent products to try and I’m always very transparent about receiving them. I received an email from the lovely team at CEL, asking if I’d like to try their haircare range.

I advised as a vegan blogger, I’d be happy to try those products and they sent me their shampoo, conditioner and hair mask. It’s cruelty free too!

What are they all about?

CEL have created a microstem haircare for thin, flat looking hair that lacks volume. The powerful blend of scientifically-optimized plant extracts, including Ginseng and Biotin, strengthens hair and promotes new hair growth. What’s not to love?

Their hair mask has a powerful blend of scientifically-optimized plant extracts, including Ginseng to strengthen and smooth hair. The mask is best for dry, damaged hair and frizz prone hair that needs taming.

Thoughts?

I’ve tried their shampoo and conditioner twice now, with the hair mask just once.

For the shampoo and conditioner the first thing I’d say is that it didn’t smell as I expected. We’re so used to scents being put into our haircare that when it doesn’t smell like fruit or roses, we’re very taken aback. Don’t get me wrong, the smell wasn’t bad it was just a typical sort of chemical beauty product one.

When I first used the shampoo it didn’t lather the same way my usual shampoo would. Now, don’t get me wrong I was using this on 7 day old hair, so the chance were that first shampoo wasn’t going to get that far anyway. Even on the second wash, although it did lather a bit, it wasn’t my usual bubbles galore kind of wash.

When the product is in your hair, it feels very smooth and strange. It kind of feels like there’s a film over your hair that’s protecting it – which of course, isn’t a bad feeling.

Conditioner test.

For conditioner, I always like to use a LOT. This is mainly due to the colour in my hair and due to the length, I like to keep my ends as healthy and hydrated as is possible. This means I probably use a good 4 to 5 squirts of product, if not more.

I found much like with the shampoo, it gave me a film like feeling. It felt very smooth on my hair, which is something I love especially with conditioner. After my hair dried, it didn’t feel weighed down at all. This is absolutely a great sign for me, as there’s nothing worse than feeling like you’ve got something in your hair – after you’ve washed it.

Lasting power.

It’s been 6 days now since I washed my hair using these products and I’d say it’s lasted just as well as my usual haircare routine. Sometimes you find that certain shampoo and conditioners can cause your hair to get drier or greasy more quickly. In this case, I’d say it’s about the same, so no complaints there!

Hair mask.

On my second wash using the CEL haircare, I decided to use the hair mask after my conditioner. It says to leave it on for 2 – 5 minutes or longer for a deeper treatment. This shocked me, as usually with hairmasks it’s recommended that you leave them on for anywhere between 10 – 30 minutes.

When opening the mask it smelt like refreshers (if you’re from the UK you’ll know exactly what I’m on about), which I was pleasantly surprised about. It was a nice gloopy texture, think thick icing sugar. It spread easily throughout my hair and instantly, my hair felt smooth.

I left it on for 3 minutes, to see what the mid range was like and when I was washing it out, my hair felt tangle free, smooth and super soft. The real test was brushing my hair after and apart from a couple of trouble areas, it was super easy.

Much like the conditioner, my hair didn’t feel weighed down and overall, I’m really happy with the CEL products.
