Wedding Portrait: Ben & jimmy

I was lucky enough to have attended Ben and Jimmy’s wedding just over a year ago. It was the most beautiful day and ‘Bimmy’ just ooze love, they’re really so perfect for each other. When Ben got in touch to ask me to draw a picture from his and Jimmy’s big day, I was over the moon. Making art for those who are your friends is something that just gets you in the feels.

The original photo.

I was lucky enough for Ben to trust me in picking a photo out a few that he sent me. Their photographer @paulwaringphoto took some amazing shots and honestly, it was hard to pick just one! I fell in love with the one of the two of them by an old wooden barn door, it had so much character and was just different to your typical wedding photo. So that’s the one I picked!

The final piece.

I was chuffed with how this final piece turned out. One thing that challenged me was Ben and Jimmy’s tattoos. I like to keep this kind of art piece simple, there’s no facial features but it seemed wrong to not try and incorporate their tattoos. After all, it’s a part of them. I tried to capture them in as simple a form as possible, whilst keeping them noticeable and recognisable.

Lucky for me Ben, who had this piece done for Jimmy, absolutely loved the final piece and I do too!
