After seeing my Alska illustration on Instagram, Danny got in touch to ask if I could create a special birthday present for his girlfriend. They have a sentimental wine bottle which she keeps with a rose in it. He wanted to change it up by changing some of the text on the bottle to show a special date to them instead.

When someone gets in touch for a commissioned piece I like to get as many photos of the subject as possible and Danny didn’t disappoint. He sent me so many different angles of the bottle he wanted for his girlfriend and was very detailed in what he was looking for. The inspiration was this Alska image, with geometric shapes in the background: Alska Cider.

Danny said the background could be completely up to me in terms of colours, so I pulled colours from the rose I drew, to help tie the whole illustration together.

The final piece.

I loved creating this illustration for Danny and I hope that his girlfriend loved the final piece as much as I did. It’s actually inspired me to do some ‘couples’ personalised portraits. Maybe a Moet Champagne bottle with dates and names on the label would look cute? If you have any other ideas for couples images, let me know and I’ll be happy to see what I can do.
