How I Store My Make-Up Stash

Now I’m sure like many of you lovely ladies and gents out there it’s all very well and good having 1,000 lipsticks and 20 different foundations to choose from but when you have so many options it’s difficult to remember what you have and you end up using the same things everyday. So the way in which your store your make up is essential to ensuring no product is ever forgotten. Here’s how I store mine..

OSCO Acrylic 3 Drawers Chest (£9, Amazon)

These little drawers are perfect for keeping my ‘everyday interchangeable’ items. I have two sets of these and I stack them on top of each other! They’re perfect for quickly looking for an item day to day.
The drawers contain;

  • Liquid lipsticks
  • Lipliners
  • Lipstick Crayons
  • Single Eyeshadows/Loose Glitters
  • Eyeliners

I also like to keep my current rotation of powder products such as highlighter and bronzer along with my everyday essentials like MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack, my current mascara, my Anastastia Dipbrow Pomade and MAC Soft Ochre paint pot for those days when I can be bothered to put on an eye base.

I do not care what anybody says, there is no better storage place for your brushes than a plant pot. You can pick them up from anywhere and get them in any colour of your choosing making a bouquet of brushes. Mine are from IKEA and they are so affordable! I use one for keeping my face brushes in and one for my eye make up brushes.

White Alex 9 Drawer Unit (£90, IKEA)

I know for a fact this is every YouTubers and beauty bloggers storage secret and I am no different. This unit is perfect for keeping all your products and you can even buy cuttable dividers to pop into the drawers to ensure products are kept separated inside. There are 5 small drawers and 4 bigger ones perfect for all types of product.

My personal system is as follows, I have one empty drawer which is perfect for popping in new products or items which I wish to blog about. Then I have a divided drawer full of bronzers, highlighters and concealers. The next drawer is used for blushers and false lashes. Then we move into foundations and primers and the last small drawer is where you can find my skincare items, cleansers, cotton pads and moisturisers galore.

Then we move into the bigger drawers. In the first I keep all of my palettes, be it eyeshadows, contours or blush palettes, this is probably my favourite drawer. Then we go onto my tanning and body moisturiser drawer, another personal favourite of mine. Second to last is the haircare drawer. I actually have quite a lot of haircare products but it’s very rare I use anything other than my hair oil, dry shampoo and heat protectant spray, it’s definitely a drawer I should experiment with more. Last but not least is what I like to call the odds and ends drawer. In here I have my facial oils, which should technically be in my skincare drawer but if one leaked when laying down in the small drawer it would be a living nightmare. I also have spare make up bags for when I am going on my travels. And also my candles. As you can tell Yankee are definitely my favourite.

Oi Labels Clear Rotating Lipstick Holder (£64.99, Amazon)

For a lipstick lover like myself this is an absolute dream. Not only is it quite small and compact with sparkles on it but it means all your lipsticks can be seen!! The way I’ve organised mine is into coloured sections. So I have my baby pinks, my hot pinks, my reds, nudes, lavenders, oranges, peaches, and then darker shades keeping my MAC lipsticks at the top as I think that it looks super cute if I do say so myself.

As you can see from my storage system I take great pride in my collection and when I eventually move house (fingers crossed in the near future) it’s going to be very nerve wracking having it all sat in boxes during the process. However, there are some amazing companies out there such as  MakeSpace who come and pick up your items, be it make up, clothes or units themselves and store them safely until your ready to have them redelivered.

This means no crushing of boxes and ruining your products, no losing any of your valued items in the process and mainly no worries! At the moment they have a few self storage locations but the way in which this company works for storing your items, big or small, along with the amazing price point, I’m sure it will be in more locations before long. Note to MakeSpace, if you could come to the UK for when I do move house that would be fab, thank you!

How do you store your make up? I’d love to know!

    1. Haha! I’m exactly the same when I see someone else and the way they store their makeup it inspires me to actually sort mine out. I’m glad you enjoyed the post! X

  1. Nice you are so organized! I have literally two bags. Since I commute for a long time into the city for work, I have a smaller bag that I take my everyday face makeup in. The other bag carries my makeup plus stuff, eye shadows, cleaning supplies, different color eyeliners, and all the makeup brushes I don’t normally use. Its basically my special occasion makeup bag. You clearly have a ton more makeup than I do.
