All Used Up #2: Skincare/Beauty

The last time I did one of these was waaaaay too long ago, I have probably actually used up more than this but not thought to keep it. I definitely need to purchase an ’empties only’ bin. Nevertheless, I will give you my opinions on these used up products and whether I would repurchase.

B. Melting Gel Cleanser (£6.99, Superdrug)
If you’re a reader of my blog, you’ll know how much I love B. products. Not only are they cruelty-free, they are absolutely amazing >>Why You’re Gonna Love B. Beauty<<! This is my favourite product ever to remove my make up with! It’s a gel which you massage onto your dry face and as you do this it turns into an oil which gently and some may say magically starts to break down your makeup. It is also gentle enough to use around the eyes, and I must say it does a great job of breaking down even waterproof mascara! Once this is all done you simply rinse off with warm water and ta-da. Fresh face! It’s a brilliant cleanser and although it does a good job at removing the majority of make-up, I actually use this as my first cleanse of three (yes I’m crazy I know). This isn’t neccessary however, I would recommend if using this product alone, repeating the process twice to ensure your face is completely make up and dirt free.
Would I repurchase? Yes. In fact I already have!

Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Water (£5.99, Superdrug)
So, this is in fact my next step in skincare. It’s turning very much into my skincare routine. I use this product after my first cleanse with B. on a cotton pad to ensure that all make up on my face has evacuated itself. I do this one time using both sides of the cotton pad until nothing more comes off onto it. I love micellar waters and always go for the Garnier ones, however this wasn’t my favourite as I found the oil funnily enough didn’t remove make up as easily. I felt like I had to work a little harder as it absorbed faster into the cotton pad meaning I had to keep adding product.
Would I repurchase? No.

Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion -SAMPLE (Full size, £13, Beauty Bay)
I used this product in my routine as a toner. It is said to be mild and non-drying. Perfect for myself as I have normal/dry skin, which currently, thanks to this colder climate is getting dry again. It is also said to remove pore clogging dirt as well as being an anti inflammatory. I did find that when applied with a cotton pad I did get a soothing sort of feel, it’s very refreshing to use. But using this little sample size didn’t give me a true representation of whether the pore clogging effects really work. Overall however I did enjoy it.
Would I repurchase? Yes, quite possibly.

B. Youthful Anti -Aging Foundation in Honey (NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
OH, MY, GOD. I had a feeling this day was coming, but I can’t believe it’s actually happened. This foundation isn’t available to purchase anymore – all the crying emojis – this is one of my favourite foundations. Not only is it a great colour match for me, it’s the perfect consistency. It’s not too thick or thin, it’s medium coverage but buildable, it’s moisturising but not oily. It’s just brilliant and I am completely devastated it’s not available anymore. Fingers crossed they will be bringing out a new and improved foundation, luckily I have my back-up bottle!
Would I repurchase? If I could, most definitely.

MAC Prep + Prime Fix + (£17.50, MAC)
Crickey, this seems to have lasted me forever. Well, about 3 months which is a consierabley good amount of time. I’m sure you’re all fully aware of how Fix + works and why everybody loves it so I won’t bore you with the details. As fab as this product is I have actually found a new setting spray which I much prefer and thats the Gerard Cosmetics one, I’ve nearly finished my current bottle and will be onto my second soon. So if you’re after a slightly cheaper alternative >>(£14.50, Beauty Bay).
Would I repurchase? Not currently.

  1. I really like reading empties, especially ones that are for people with ordinary financial means and I share your love for B. although my skin is oily. You should try their essence or hyaluronic acid spritz between toner and serum/cream (which also contain hyaluronic acid, so your skin stays plump and hydrated)

    1. I’ve just bought the acid spritz but will definitely keep my eyes peeled for the essence! Thanks so much for reading and appreciating my post! Xx

    1. Hello!
Aww thanks so much for your comments.
I used to have quite oily skin, not necessarily acne prone but I did get regular breakouts. I’m no skin expert but since I’ve started using facial oils, especially bio-oil it’s all calmed down.
By putting oil on your face it actually makes your skin stop producing oil as it’s already there so don’t be scared of it. And bio-oil is great for redness and scarring which comes from acne. It’s definitely worth a try.
I don’t know how you cleanse your face either but I’m a true believer in the double cleanse which is mentioned above. Always make sure 100% your make up is off before applying any creams or oils.
Let me know if you try any of this out/if it works.
      I’d love to know! X
