My Travel Makeup Bag – Winter City Break Edition

Travelling. I absolutely adore travelling, but when it comes down to packing for it, I made a very conscious decision that my makeup is not leaving my side. All my clothes can be lost or not with me for days, but a girl can’t live without her make up. So every time I go away, I always ensure I can fit all of my makeup into a 20×20 see-through makeup bag so I can take it on the plane with me and know it’s safe!

For my travels this month I went to Krakow in Poland for 4 nights. As it was very cold there (-10 degrees if you’re interested) and we’d be going on a lot of trips during the day time. I knew I didn’t need anything special. I simply wished to take make up I could transition from simple everyday to smokey eye at night.

So what did I take?

F A C E & B A S E
Before going away I’d tanned about 2 times to give me a nice glow. I took 2 foundations with me, one that matched me  with my tan along with a lighter one to ensure I’d be able to mix them and match my skin tone during the trip. I took my L.A Girl concealers to highlight and contour my face along with my MAC Pro Longwear concealer to ensure my blemishes and tired eyes would be hidden all day.

L’Oreal True Match foundation in Vanilla (£9.99, Boots)
Milani Conceal and Perfect 2 in 1 foundation in Warm Beige (£11, Beauty Bay)
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20 (£18, MAC Cosmetics)
L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Natural & Toast (£5 each, Beauty Bay)

I didn’t want to bring too many options in terms of face powders, I knew I wouldn’t use them all. I bought my everyday L.A Girl powders to set my face and contour. Along with my trusty MAC Give me sun!, Mary Loumanizer highlight and my favourite goes with everything blush – which is also in a mini size (bonus) – Nars Orgasm.

L.A. Girl’s Pro Face powder in Creamy Ivory & Toffee (£6 each, Beauty Bay)
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Give Me Sun! (£24, MAC Cosmetics)
Nars Orgasm blush (£23, ASOS)
The Balm’s Mary Loumanizer (£20, Superdrug)

As mentioned, I knew I wasn’t going to be doing anything overly dramatic with my makeup during this trip. So all I took in terms of eye shadow was my Tanya Burr eye shadow quad in Birthday Suit. This is the perfect palette to transition from everyday to smoky eye at night. I also was able to use my darker face powders to create depth in the eyes if needed.
Alongside this I bought my trusty L’Oreal Miss Hippie mascara and two khol eyeliners, one in black and one in a purple based black for a bit of something different.

Tanya Burr eye shadow palette in Birthday Suit (£5.99, Superdrug)
L’Oreal Miss Hippie Waterproof mascara (£7.99, Boots)
Avon SuperShock Gel eyeliner pencil in Black (£6, AVON)
Zoeva Graphic Eye eyeliner in Rock ‘n’ Roll Bride (£7, Beauty Bay)

The day I went on my trip I used Wunderbrow (see post here) as this keeps my brows pretty much perfect for a couple of days. So all I took with me was Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade and a brow brush to keep them in check.

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown (£15, Beauty Bay)

I didn’t want anything bold but I wanted products that would stay. I took a nude pink and a brown nude liquid lip so I had a couple of options. I ensured to take a Soft Matte Lip Cream to keep my lips moisturised in the day time due to the cold weather.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi (£5.50, Boots)
Nyx Lip Lingerie in Lace Detail (£6.50, Boots)

B R U S H E S
I literally only took the brushes I knew I would use on the daily or I could multi-task with. There’s no need for contour brushes and five blending brushes when you’re away, simply a case of taking exactly what you know you can get away with.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (£4.49, Boots)
Unbranded Duo-Fibre brush
Zoeva Soft Definer brush (£9, Beauty Bay)
Zoeva Smoky Shader brush (£9, Beauty Bay)
Zoeva Petit Crease brush (£9, Beauty Bay)
Zoeva Brow Line brush (£8, Beauty Bay)
Spectrum Short Smudge Brush (£4, Beauty Bay)
Models Own blush brush from the 5 piece set (£10, ASOS)
Real Techniques Blush Brush (£9.99, Boots)
Morphe Fan brush from the 12 piece set (£12.50, Beauty Bay)

I hope this helps any of you taking any trips. Let me know where you’re going, I’d love to know!

  1. Hey there! Lovely post, it was very helpful to read, could you show us what kind of see through bag you put all these products in? Also airlines have these rules about how many liquid items you can take onboard right? is it safe to take the foundations on? – sorry for the 20 questions xx

    1. Hello!

So glad you love the post.

I definitely would, it’s super high coverage but it is quite drying. So if you have really dry under eyes I wouldn’t recommend it xx
