Say Hello to Hola Coco – Your Hair’s New Best Friend

Dye your hair? Use heat on your hair? Have extensions? Have naturally frizzy hair? Well, look no further. I may just have the product you’ve been looking for – without even realising it.

I was recently contacted by the lovely Sophie from Hola Coco, the founder and brains behind the brand. She linked me up to her website to find out more about the product and after seeing the amazing process behind how this product was born, as well as the reviews that anybody would be proud of, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

The hair mask, as you may have guessed by the name, is made up of a unique mix of coconut oil, coconut extract and shea butter and best of all, it’s only £29.99 for a huge tub (which you can buy here). The main reason for the creation of this mask is to restore dry damaged hair with moisture and shine. It also going to give your hair intense softness.

I’ve been trying this product out for about a month now, as I wanted to make sure I gave a full and honest review of how my hair differs to when I just use my usual shampoo and conditioner. As someone who washes their hair once, sometimes if you’re lucky twice a week, I’ve found some amazing strengths of this hair mask for me.

To use this hair mask, it’s very simple. I wash my hair with shampoo – which I always do twice. Then, rather than conditioning I’ll get out of the shower and towel dry my hair and brush it through. After this, I’ll take a big blob of the product and run it from the lengths of my hair all the way up to the roots. I’ll then brush my hair through again and leave the product in for around 15 to 20 minutes, as advised on the tub. After this time, simply wash it out with warm water and dry/style as usual.

The hair mask itself is what I can only describe as a gloop texture – think The Body Shop’s Body Yoghurts – and it’s surprisingly not at all sticky. The smell of it, well it literally smells like holiday in a tub, as I’m sure most coconutty things smell like to us all. Another amazing thing about this product is that it’s vegan, cruelty-free and formulated in the UK, something that I’m always in support of.

After having the mask on my hair and leaving it to dry naturally, something that I do all the time – as I like to use as least heat on it as possible, I’ve noticed that it dries in the most beautiful way. My hair’s naturally got a bit of a kink to it, which isn’t quite a wave but this product makes it look super beachy and ‘undone’ (but in the good kind of way).

I’ve started to use this product every three washes, so once every 10 or so days, to keep my hair healthy, moisturised and shiny. The only downside is that I do find I need to wash my hair sooner than I usually would after having this in – more than likely due to the oil content in the mask. This isn’t exactly a downside either, it’s just that sometimes I do like to go a full seven days without washing my hair, mainly because I’m too lazy.

I can definitely see why many people who suffer from frizz either naturally or due to heat or colour damage would find this beneficial, as I can imagine the smooth amazing style it would give their hair.

I’d definitely recommend trying this product out if you’re looking for something to make your hair smooth, soft and shiny. Not only that, but you’d also be supporting a small business and the amazing founder of the company. You can find their website with all the information you could possibly want here: Hola Coco

Love, always.
