Now, that’s a mouthful isn’t it. But this super cheap bottle of goodness has been an absolute gem in my makeup routine recently. Let me tell you more..

Recently, I’ve quit using brushes and sponges to apply my foundation as I feel it looks too ‘caked on’ which at the moment isn’t a look I’m going for. I’m trying to embrace my own skin and nourish it, rather than pack on a load of makeup.

For this reason, I’ve started mixing a squirt of foundation in with my daily moisturiser and literally moisturising it into my face. I’ve noticed this has massively helped my skin and also gives me a more natural finish!

So where does this Hemi-Squalene come in?

The moisturiser I’m currently using isn’t cheap and as a gal on a budget this month I wanted to look for an alternative. Of course, I’m a cruelty-free and vegan girl so making sure the product was both of these was most important.

I decided to look at The Ordinary as I know they’re all about vegan, cruelty-free products for a reasonable price. That’s when I came across the 100% plant derives Hemi-Squalene for just £2.75 on Beauty Bay!

It stated it’s ideal for a lacklustre or dry complexion. Ultra-nourishing and lightweight, delivering a moisture boost and giving a plump, smooth finish. It’s oil free and can be used on both the face and in the hair for a frizz free feel. So before I knew it, it was in my basket and ready to go!

Do I like it?

I really, really do! I take around 5 – 6 drops and mix with my foundation and apply the mixture onto my face as my base. If I feel like it, I then go on with concealer, powder etc

I’ve found that since using the product my face has become less dry and although my face does start to become hydrated with oil throughout the day, it doesn’t end up looking greasy – more dewy.

For £2.75 I’d definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re in the market for a new makeup base, hair oil or just fancy trying something new!
