I think it’s important, very important, to bring positivity to your own day through affirmations. If you wake up, realise you’ve got work, a meeting, to do the food shop or whatever it may be and can’t be bothered, your attitude is going to affect your mood and in turn your day. I often wake up in a can’t be bothered mood and then for the whole day I’m ‘in one’ and not only does it tend to make my day go slower, it always affects the way I am around others.
By simply saying to yourself, today will be a good day and thinking about the positives, this will shift your mindset and in turn, affect the way you see your day. Say you really don’t want to go to work today, that’s okay but are you doing anything good after work? Maybe there’s a great programme on the TV or you’re going to your parents for lunch. Focus on that. So rather than ‘ugh, I can’t be bothered with work’ think of ‘Oh, I can’t wait to see my parents after work’ and boom, mindset shifted.
I don’t personally journal but I know it helps a lot of people and it’s definitely something that will help with your day. Maybe when you wake up, write down 3 things you’re looking forward to that day. It could be your morning cup of tea, a 15 minute walk or even getting back into bed at the end of the day. It doesn’t need to be anything amazing, just 3 things that will make today a good day and something you’re looking forward to doing.
Try it and see if it changes your mindset, it’s definitely helping me to see the positive a lot more on those ‘CBA’ days.
