Aside from washing the hair, I feel it often gets put to one side the products that we use to maintain our hair between washes.

This includes everything we use to style it with, tie it up with and of course, how we keep it looking fresh when we don’t have time to wash it – yes dry shampoo, I’m looking at you.

So what better compliment to my first haircare post >>read it here<< than to focus on everything in-between.

Styling My Hair

This is something that’s very much reserved for if I’m going out, there’s a stray piece of hair that won’t do as it’s told or I want to feel fancy.

At least four times a week, I will use straighteners on my hair. Mainly for taming the hair around my face, sometimes for adding a bit of wave or simply for straightening out the ends of my hair. My weapon of choice is of course, no other than the GHD V Styler (£135, Amazon).

Before I do use any heat on my hair, I’ll always spray it with a heat protectant and my personal favourite is the Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protect Spray (£6.05, Superdrug).

If I am fancying my hair super wavy or curly. I would highly recommend Nu-Me wands. However, as mine is currently dead (rest in peace), I’m using my Babyliss Curling Wand Pro (£27.99, Amazon). What I love about this is that the wand goes from fat to thin – meaning not only can you make your curls look super natural. You can also use one section of the wand, meaning the thickness and styles of curls you can create is unlimited. Personally, I stick to the fat half of the wand to create a looser wave.

Now my hair’s pretty good at keeping a curl for days on end, so I don’t find myself using any type of hair spray at all. I do however, top up the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray (£23.50, Amazon) in my hair each day – to keep that texture going.

Dry Shampoo and Bobbles

I am guilty of not washing my hair for as long as is humanly possible. I tend to leave it about 3 – 4 days in between washes, meaning that dry shampoo is essential for me.

My all time favourite dry shampoo has to be Batiste (£2.99, Superdrug). It doesn’t leave a white cast in my hair, it sucks up all the extra oils and it doesn’t dry out my hair. I also find that if you use it for a couple of days in a row, although it can be felt building up a little – it’s not noticeable to anyone else.

Recently though, I’ve discovered a new favourite dry shampoo. It’s a great one for adding volume, putting only where you need it and adding a good grip to the hair if it’s freshly washed and you want to style it. It’s the Bumble & Bumble Pret-a-Powder (£23.50, Amazon).

It’s unlike a dry shampoo I’ve tried before as it’s not a spray – but I actually prefer this as it allows me to direct the powder to only where it’s required. It doesn’t leave any white cast within the hair and it’s great for using day after day – after day!

Now, last but not least, let’s talk bobbles.

They’re something so boring and essential – yet they never get the spotlight. Well, it’s now their time to shine.

I love so many bobbles and it’s one of those things I actually find myself buying impulsively when in places like Superdrug, Primark or Boots.

My ultimate favourite, which will be everyone else’s too, is the Invisi-Bobble (£4.95, Superdrug). They really grip the hair, whether you’re doing a bun, a pony or a half-up do. Not only that, but thanks to the spiral shape, they don’t leave a massive kink in your hair after you take them out. I honestly don’t know what we did before these bobbles!

My other favourite type of bobble is from Primark, so I’m unable to link them, but they’re perfect for a half up do as I sometimes find the Invisi-Bobbles a bit too big. They’re a mini fabric bobble with ribs. They’re perfect for gripping the hair and I never find them to slacken with use which is a bonus. Best of all, I’m sure that a pack of 20 of these was just £1.50.

Finally, poly hair bands (£2.19, Superdrug). You know, the little clear elastic ones that are great for using at the end of plaits! They’re such an essential for pretty much anyone who has hair and I wouldn’t know what I’d do without them.
