Holy Grail – Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

Holy grails, everybody has at least one. So I’ve decided I’m going to do a series on my personal Holy Grail products starting with the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant – Fragrance Free.

This fragrance free version of the legendary skincare classic works wonders to moisturise and protect anytime, anyway you choose. Shape brows, revitalise shine, soothe dry hands and smooth cuticles and nails. Also for symptoms of chapping, peeling or flaking due to minor burns, sunburn, windburn, scrapes, abrasions or cracked lips. No wonder it’s loved by makeup artists all around the world.

Legendary is exactly how to describe this product!

When I first purchased this over a year ago I was suffering from dry patches on my brow bone and eyelids. I have tried numerous eye creams and moisture balms alike but they didn’t seem to be working. As it meant I couldn’t wear much eye make up it was starting to get me down, so I was determined to find a solution. Whilst browsing treatments for skin online I came across Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Skin Protectant (£26 directly from Elizabeth Arden) and saw the amazing reviews people had left, such as –
I’ve had an eczema on my knee for about two years, nothing helped until I tried the eight hour cream. In just two days, my skin became softer and the eczema has started to disappear. It is nothing short of a miracle.’
‘I call this magic cream, there is nothing that you can not heal with this cream. from burns to chapped lips. scars disappear. it’s MAGIC.’
With all the hype surrounding the product from those who had tried and tested it I thought, well it’s definitely worth a try!

When it arrived I couldn’t wait to try it out. It is an extremely thick, balmy product with a slight coloured tinge.
Nightly I would apply the protectant thinly over the dry patches around my eyes and also to my cuticles and cake on a super thick layer on my lips. By the morning my lips would be smooth, my cuticles less rough and the dry patches on my eyes soothed and less bumpy. After about two weeks my dry patches had completely disappeared and I was completely delighted, I could wear eye make up again!

Almost a year on since the dry patches disappeared they haven’t returned even though I have stopped using the balm on them many months ago – which is amazing.

I still use this product on the daily, it truly is a miracle product. It is the one and only lip balm that I use, and I am tempted to purchase the lip balm version of the product to pop into my handbag, as the tube isn’t the most convenient for travel. Weekly before bed I also put a thick layer under my eyes. As the balm is so intensely hydrating I feel it’s a great treatment which could help combat any wrinkles that may start to occur the older I get.

What other ways do you use this product? Do you have any holy grail magic skin balms you could recommend?
